Pricing
When pricing a cut , we do consider the following facts.
1. Whether which machine to be used. Laser cutter or the CNC router. Both have different rates.
2. Is it a Cutting or is it an engraving(mostly laser) . Depends on either which , the rates differ.
3. Value/ price of the material. Example- though the time taken to cut a melamine board and a real teak wood board might be almost the same. But due to the value difference both will not be cut at the same rate. (can a gold sheet be cut at the same rate as wood)So when pricing we consider the material price as a main fact.
4. Size of the needed item. Example – normally a MDF/Metamine or eco board will be in the size of 8*4 feet. So if a customer cuts the whole size we cut at a lower rate . where as if part of the board is cut we cut at a slightly higher rate since the residue might not be taken for another work until such suitable size requierement occurs.
5. Whether it’s a 2D cut or a 2.5D cut. – A 2D cut is where the cut passes through the board without any vertical differences. So it takes very less time. And this is possible on any material. Where a 2.5D cut , cuts with vertical differences. Where it can be done in mostly real wood. Further 2.5D cuts takes a much more longer time than 2D. Laser cutting is always 2D. but CNC router cutting is not so.
6. Pattern or the Design. Example- if the pattern is designed with small cuts, it will take a long time to complete such in comparison to a design which comprises of fairly large size cuts.
